I’m relatively new to portrait painting, having been a full-time, self-employed commercial artist for most of the last 30 years. I’d always enjoyed drawing people though, and had long harbored a secret desire to paint. Two years ago, almost on a whim, I signed up for a head painting night class at the art school I’d attended prior to beginning my freelance career. I found I really loved painting and portraiture, not only the feel of the brush and paint, but also the interaction with the subject, and the the process of trying to capture someone’s personality and psychology on canvas.

After two years of intensive training, which included additional classes, lots of practice, reading many how-to books, and the encouragement of family and friends, I’m now offering my portrait painting services to the general public. I can paint people or pets. I live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and am willing to travel within the Southwest PA tri-state area. I can paint from photographs, but prefer painting from life, or better yet, a combination of the two. Please call or email for additional information. Prices are available upon request.
